After a almost 5-year hiatus, I thought it was time to say hello again! So; Hello!! ;)

Anyway, saw this used Stingray for sale in Germany. Very pretty with it's maple top over ash, and birdseye neck and fingerboard. Anyone got the story on this bass? The text says it's spent "18 years in it's case, so it's practically as new!!!" So either 18 is a mistake and they meant 28, or it's a '96 model?!?

Here's the link with pics of the pretty girl:
Music Man Sting Ray 1986 - Hot Wire Bass · Finest Bass Guitars · Hergestellt in Deutschland

Anyone own one here? :)

The ad says that the maple top was added by a luthier after purchase of the bass.

It has a six-bolt neck with a truss wheel and a post 1990 logo. A 1986 Stingray would have a four-bolt neck with the truss adjustment at the headstock.

It doesn't say whether the gold hardware is aftermarket.

So yeah; my german is not really up to snuff! ;) And of course; you're right! And thanks! :)
So now we can probably put this in the misleading ad category; since it's not a 1986, and not original. And what makes it "Special Edition" other than being modified? Hmm, makes you think that the over $4k price tag, just might be a bit steep... ;)

Yeah, they took the hint pretty fast! ;)

Hey, Mr M. I've been good. And you? Still working in music?
You can hit me up on facebook if you want, and there we can talk in NORWEGIAN! hehe ;)

I dialed down my presence on internet forums for a while, as it took a little too much of my attention and time, I felt.
But yeah, five years!, kind of surprised me too. has also to do with a little bit that I've figured out what works for me when it comes to Musicman; which is a 4-string Stingray w/rosewood and 3-band eq; bone stock! ;) But I'll be around a little; and perhaps nag BP on when is Ernie Ball gonna start making polar bear repellent! :p

hehe, yeah!..maybe they do; I haven't seen ANY roaming the streets this year! ;)
Yeah, hard to stay away from the music. I'm in the process of going back in myself, as a player. :) It's easier now, with the internet and technology to make some decent stuff and get it out there; pretty cool times we live in! :)
