Splitting Neck pickup on Y2D

Hey guys!

I ve had my purple sunset Y2D for almost a year now and i love it. Plays and feels absolutely fantastic. I cant believe how versatile this guitar is. But sometimes i am missing the single coil neck pickup sound. I do have a very nice Strat but i just cant let my Y2D out of my hands.

Has anyone tried splitting neck, Steves special, pickup? How does it sound?

I was thinking of istaling a push-pull pot. Any specifics i should follow in doing so?

I did that on my Y2D. I think the stock pickup with the electronics sounds great split. Go for it...nothing to lose. You will get a different sound in the 2nd position where both pickups are on together though and it will not be noise canceling. I have since changed the pickups but still have a push-pull pot to split the humbuckers. It is such an amazing guitar to play.

I've got it split in my Morse using the "add bridge" toggle to split both (with a Silent Circuit to remove a chunk of the hum). I had been meaning to do it in the Y2D as well, but didn't want to change the cosmetics so I just have the tone pot splitting the bridge p'up.

The bridge split is a no-brainer- it's really great split. The neck, it's ok, but I can live without it. Esp. using the full neck bucker + split bridge together- that's a good combination.

There's not too much to it, really. Solder away, it's worth doing.
