I prefer the single H. I think the sound is more direct and focused.

i think it'll be hh, after playing the 20th aniversary hh in store today and being told it was $xxxx (i was excited) i went and grabbed the cash to go in and get it and the guy said opps i thought it was the same price as the other Stingrays, turns out it's $xxxx (which is too much). i'm going to look to a 20th aniversary for a little bit less than that but it will be the HH model i think

I own 92 SR5 H and 06 SR5 HH and I love them both but I seem to take HH more often to my gigs. 92 comes with alnico pickup so it is different from todays H so I never tried late H model but I really like HH

How's slapping and popping with the extra H or S? Looks like it is close to the neck and may interfere a bit? One thing I like about the single H is that it is closer to the bridge and you still get a full plucking sound.

I slap and pop on mine with no problems...

Unfortunately, I do not possess an SR5, although I am hoping to pick up a 20th SR5 H in the not too distant future. The single H does it for me. I've been playing a US Lak***d in HS configuration since '98 (my main bass) and only ever use the Bridge Pup. There really is something to like about that Pup and at least with the single H on the SR5 20th, you have additional tonal options which are missing from the HH config. Bridge Pup really does cut through the mix like hot knives!

If you want a warmer sound, just move your right hand towards the neck a little. It's all there baby!
