Dargie wins on the neck/frets, 20th wins on the look/body, what about tone and maybe resale ???

The 20th will sound different. Whether or not it comes down to "better" is of course a personal preference.

Resale - who knows? People sell these things?

;)

For sure BH, just have not had the luxury of trying one first - listened to Ed play one, his style on his rig, not much help. I suppose the mahog block and different woods would be a growlier, longer sustain? If so that suits me fine (and no we do not sell we trade for a similar, we get GAS : )

I think the 20th is the best SR5 ever built, really, and it's quite the looker. But the differences in tone are subtle and generelly lost in a live mix, especially a loud one.

The Dargie is a special bass, too, with that green paint and martini inlays, and will certainly get the job done just like any other wonderful SR5.

Hold the Martinis...it's a Dargie II

I can say that the 20th HH that I owned was the BEST EBMM that I've ever played. I owned many different configs (SR5, ST5, Bongo 5 etc) and that 20th was the best sounding bass I've ever played.

wish I still had her...:(

Ho, good call, I did not see the "II" designator as I was busy being distracted by Craig's letter-pooping problem.

Between these two, probably the 20th.... Personally. Mahogany tone block and figured top.... Mmmmmmm.

The 20th is a very beautiful bass. The Dargie isn't for everyone and that's what makes it appealing. I think that both will hold their relative resales with a slight edge to the Dargie if it is sold in a bass forum as it is more renown.
