I was inspired by Travis's (ebmuscmanlvr83) thread about a SR5 neck trade, so I figured I'd check here to see if there's any interest.
I have a SR5 with a maple-fingerboard neck. I would like to see if I can trade it for an unlined fretless neck. It must be unlined.
The neck, as far as I can tell, is in perfect condition. It does, however, have a Hipshot D-tuner installed on the E-string. It came to me this way and I would like to remove it and keep it for the new neck. I don't believe that the D-tuners leave any extra screw-holes, though if I'm wrong, someone please correct me!
I actually traded my SR5 for a lined Jazz Deluxe Fretless. The Jazz didn't do the tone I was looking for, but I heard a fretless SR5 live which sounded incredible and I recently played an unlined fretless bass that's got me GASing like crazy. I don't have the money to buy another bass, so I figured I might try trading necks. I'd like an ebony fingerboard (which neither EBMM nor Fender offer), but I'm willing to give pao ferro a try.
I can take close-up pics of the neck too, if desired. Please contact me via email at [email protected] if you're interested. I have Pit and TalkBass references, if needed or desired.
Edit: Just to clarify something, the Hipshot Bass Xtender is in fact on the E-string and the bass is strung BEADG. Hipshot makes a Bass Xtender with a raised lever so as to not interfere with the B-string tuner. Offical word here (see entry #13).
