I just picked up a 1995 SR5. I am having problems getting the action on the G as low as I would like it. With the saddle bottomed out, the string is 7/64 above the above the 12th fret. I know that this is within spec, but I would really like the action lower on this. The other strings are fine.

Is there a special saddle with a deeper grove available?

Sr5's come with a .020 shim in the neck pocket. It sounds like someone took it out. Take the neck off and see. If you need a shim call customer service 1 866 823-2255 They will send you a shim. BTW the G string height from the factory is 3/32 at the 12th fret.

Jon,

Yeah, we know it's what you do... but it is still friggin' amazing to witness a balls-on diagnosis like that one. Great call.
