Hi,
Im new to this forum. Ive just ordered SR5 in Vintage Sunburst, Rosewood Fretboard and matching headstock with black pickguard. The shop told me the approx. wait time is about 3 months, is that true? The waiting time is like waiting for my car to be built, but it only took 2 months afterall.

My question is, to those who have waited before for the bass to be built, is it exactly 3 months, or only takes couple of weeks?

thank you

That sounds right for a completely new MM bass. Have you considered buying one off eBay or some online MM dealers prior?

I don't have any official word on waiting times, but 90 days was what I was quoted by Important Sources Deep Inside San Luis Obispo when I was thinking about ordering another Bongo.

The wait time is considerably reduced if you order from existing dealer stock, of course. Bass Central usually has a BIG selection of MM basses.

very true - musiciansfriend.com just happened to have the one i wanted in stock - so lucky me....

they even have a few bongos in stock too.

another good thing about MF is that they're not floor models - it was brand new in the box....

First I email them, asking for the quote of the specs I want. Then after that I called them up since Im interested in the good quote that they gave me, then just ordered it. Brian helped me everything here's his email [email protected], tell him Ivan told you. Besides that the good thing abt chucklevins.com, they only charge you 10% of the total amount, the rest is when the bass is ready to be shipped to ur door.

Good Luck, Hope that helps

SR5 from Chuck Levins'

I ordered my new black/black/matching HS/rosewood SR5 from Chuck Levin's (I walked into the store, though), and I was quoted a 2 month wait time.......I'm playin' the "waiting game" with ya since March 13th!

AGONIZING, isn't it? I keep going to the "build an instrument" page and creating it, just so I can see it......

I know - I'm pathetic, but I just can't help myself. I DREAM of having this instrument. I fell in love the first time that I played one, and can't wait until my custom-ordered "baby" is in my arms.....

I just hope the wife doesn't get jealous.

Guess what? Basscentral emails me 4 times today. They are so enthusiast that I get the SR5 from them. When I called them on Monday, they were very rude to me. They talked like i cant afford to get the SR5, and because of that I ordered mine from chucklevins.com. Now they are keep emailing me and saying they can get the bass I want in the next 3 weeks since its already been pre-ordered. Should I change my mind and get it from them? I dont think so huh?

I wouldn't order from them if they were rude to me.

You might even want to respond to one of their emails, letting them know that you didn't appreciate being dealt with in a condescending manner, and that because of it, you bought from one of their competitors.

That would send them a CLEAR message that they shouldn't berate their customers. I'd bet if you dealt with them again, they'd treat you a BUNCH nicer, knowing that you spent $1,200. - $1,300. on an SR5, and it could've been with them........

Very, very surprising. I've dealt with BC on a number of basses and have never had anything less than stellar response. If it's worth it to you, call and talk to Gard and tell him your concerns. He's a good guy and he'll fix whatever may have been wrong.

I think it would be too late to deal with the Bass Central again because Ive already placed my order with chucklevins.com and I believe they have already asked the factory to start the order. If I cancel the chucklevins, they have to go through a lot of process, and with that I will feel bad about it.

I think I'll just wait even though it will take 2-3 months to build.

Thanks for the responds guys :)

Our build time 6 or 7 years ago was 14 months for any guitar or bass.

Today it been around 2-3 months leadtime for an instrument to be ordered and shipped.

Worth the wait.
