Just got a SR5 HS yesterday and trying to find a deeper tone like my SR4HH has. I understand the SR5's electronics are the same as the Sterling? Is that true?? It sounds just like a Sterling with a B string attached and not at all like a Stingray to me. Obviously these are different animals but can anyone advise how to set EQ to get most SR4 like tone out of my Sterling and SR5? Wondering if I should have bought a Bongo 5 instead:confused:   Any good advice would be appreciated.

slucas, I've owned a Sterling, Bongo, and just got another SR5.
IMHO, you can only get a little close to the SR4 tone w/these.
The StingRay H delivers everything "I" want and need in a bass.
The others are awesome & respectable, but cannot replace my SR4's.
I badly need a SR4HH!

SR4s are wired in parallel. Put your SR5 in the parallel postion (closest to the bridge) and tweak it as you please. I've owned 2 SR4s and a HH Bongo 5 and none of them could really harness the SR5 tone that I like.

Just diddle around and i'm sure you'll find a tone you love.
