I would like to try an SSS configuration on my Music Man Silhouette. It's currently a stock HSH with the Dimarzios. I am looking potentially into a beefier p90 type sound. It will probably sound like a fat sounding strat. Anyways my SIlo is a Floyd Rose model. It's an older model from 1993. I'd like to find a proper pickguard so that the holes match with the holes from the old pickguard.

Has anyone tried something similar?

You can get a pickguard from Pickguard Heaven / Pickguard Planet / Chandlers Music (all the same people), they make (or did make) the pickguards for Music Man. I don't think they have SSS for the trem you have but you could either buy the closest match (which is the hardtail 3927?) and have it modified for your trem, or ask email Chandlers and ask if they can do a custom SSS version of 3970 or 3966 for you.

I've got multiple guards for a few silos. The pickguard heaven link is where you want to go. It's guard 3970. They will do sss, but there is an upcharge.

The floyd guards can also be used on the regular trem silos. Same screw holes, you'll just have a bigger cutout in the guard where the floyd will be.

I ordered a few extra molex connectors directly from music man so the additional guards could be easily swapped in and out without soldering.

I know you didn't ask for pickup recommendations, but if you're looking for fat strat sound, check out dimarzios injectors and virtual vintage pickups. I put a virtual solo (b), virtual vintage blues (m), and heavy blues ( n ) in one of my specials. Sounds awesome. The heavy blues might be especially good for a 24 fret silo because its beefy sounding, and the 24 fret puts the neck pickup position closer to the bridge than a 22 fret guitar would. The virtual solo in the bridge definitely pushes things in the p90 direction.

I'm getting ready to put injectors in the neck and bridge of another silo special, with an area 58 in the middle. They are all dead quiet pickups.

I have a silhouette with the HBs replaced with Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P90s. Slot straight in and sound awesome.

can you post any pics? what pickguard do you have? white black?

any clips for tone perhaps? I've liked the gibson p94s more than the phat cats but they are impossible to find.

I am aware of youtube's existence thank you! However I want Danefords opinion on what is kind of the representative tone in the context of a super-strat guitar like the Silo.
It's hard to find clips that I really like, since so much is dependent on the amp, player, and recording quality. I couldn't find any with a 24 fret guitar like the silo, and I have mine in a silo special.

I don't think I mentioned it earlier, but the injectors were a Paul Gilbert sig pickup. I think Keith Urban uses them in his strats as well. I think of them as strat pickups, but "50% more."

This is kind of gainy.

Good range of tones here from clean to higher gain. He's using an area 61 for the middle. A lot of times the 67 is recommended to help get the quack. That's a bright pickup, so I chose the 58 instead.

Here's the area 58 vs injector in the neck:

Neck shred:

And here's Paul on the bridge. I love his playing. His tone isn't always my bag, but the clip is worth watching.

A couple more and then I'll stop spamming the thread.

Great clip of the virtual solo with fuzz through a pro reverb. I think the guitar is a 57 strat reissue. This guy is a great player.

Same guy. Virtual solo bridge through a dumble profile.

His strat is virtual solo bridge, virtual blues, and heavy blues neck. He runs through all the pickups here:
