Been looking for a guitar that is different than my strat or lee paul. These two among jazzmaster and firebird have been on my radar. So looking for impressions and opinions on the two and what you would get if buying.
I just tried the St. VINCENT at DuBaldo's. I really like it. The shape is more preferable than the AL and that unfinished neck was super smooth. The neck was a little thicker than I'm used to but if I had a little extra cash I'd buy it.
P.S. Pete, I finally got to check out your shop. I'll be back when you get those Sterling JP'S back in stock
Take a look at the neck pocket on both.
The AL seems to have substantially better access to upper frets. I'm not sure you can easily navigate, if at all, the 21st and 22nd frets on the SV. Never played one, but from pics it looks like the body and neck join at the 20th fret, rendering this a 20 fret guitar at best, again, I've never played one so, take one for a test drive to confirm. If that is important to you, then the Albert Lee is your ticket. If not, then consider the pickups and tones that the guitar can deliver. Which is more important to you?
