Wikipedia says that Flea used a Fender Jazz bass exclusively for the Stadium Arcadium album. What do you think?

Who knows what he really used in the studio??? He's only been shown with that pink '61 Jazz but in reality it's anybody's guess.

I just wish there were more bass magazines so he could be on even more covers.

Kasim has never gotten the press he deserves IMO. Isn't it about time for Marcus Miller or Michael Manring again though??

I aslo noticed that in each instance they did a double cover shot of Flea with Charlie Haden then Bootsy. Wonder if they think he can't sell enough mags on his own?

He states in his interview with recent Bass Player (the one with him and Charlie Haden on the cover) it's the 61 Jazz bass with flatwounds. Amp-wise, it's mostly his Gallien-Krueger rig but also some Ampeg stuff. He's really trying different things and experimenting with his sound for really the first time.

I gotta say I am very happy he stopped using the Jazz with the flatwounds live. You just could not hear him in the mix at all. That bass is just too polite. Look what Marcus Miller had to do to his Jazz do get his sound. It's far from stock.

According to the June '06 edition of Bass Player, he used a vintage 60s Fender Jazz Bass that is actually worth a pretty penny. He came about it after he posted on a forum saying that he wanted a vintage jazz bass so that he could be "as cool as John Paul Jones." Someone found one for him.
