Hey LowBMesa,
I'm sure there's plenty of bassists out there that use stainless steel strings. I use them for gigs when I'm planning to do a lot of slap or aggressive fingerstyles. They're definitely brighter than nickel plated steel. Nickel plated steel is a little smoother, but you get used to the stainless ones quickly.

Hi there, I just switched over to a set of Ernie Stainless, to try them, as like a lot of players I guess, when it comes to SS you are hard pressed to beat the mighty Rotosounds, however I tend to find they don't last as long as I would like, but I am a bit of an animal, anyway always had great results with Nickel Slinky's, so I will let you know how I get on.
