Hi all,
I am getting ready to have some stainless steel frets put in my Sub1.
I teach and play everyday 5 to 8 hours and just wear through the frets in the 5th and 12th position.
I have tried the evh guitar and while the frets on it were small I did like the feel and the sound.
Anyone tried these on their Musicman yet?
I am going with the 6105 size wire as I like that profile.
PS. the Musicman guitar Really smokes the evh.:)

I put a Warmoth neck with stainless frets on my Tele and I love them. I started thinking about eventually having them installed on my other guitars when fret work is needed.

I also wonder why more manufacturers don't put stainless frets on their guitars. I know they are more expensive and harder to work with, file, etc. But some people (like me) would probably be willing to pay a little more for that feature.

Maybe BP can weigh in on this? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi all,
I am getting ready to have some stainless steel frets put in my Sub1.

Out of curiosity, have you been quoted a price to get stainless frets put in? I always hear that they're more expensive, but I don't know if that's 10% more or double.....

fret cost

I am lucky in that I have a friend that does GREAT guitar work and he is always WAY under priced on everything that he does.;)
I will let you all know what it cost me when I get the guitar back.
I will get some picks up of the new SS frets too.
I can tell you that SS frets last WAY longer as they are MUCH harder.
Cheers

I've got those exact frets in my Sil Special, had it Plekked to get it perfect and it's amazing.

200 gigs and countless hours playing and not a single blemish on them... GO FOR IT !!!!!

I've got 6105 SS frets on several non-MM guitars and I can tell you that I am 100% certain that as soon as I need new frets on a MM axe they will be going on.

I've done a bit of research on this, because my Les Paul will be refret with stainless. My tech told me that although it's true that they are a little more expensive and little harder to work with, he said it's not that big of a deal as it's made out to be. Manufactures need to cut down cost, so they have to go for cutting corners wherever they can. All the Suhr guitars are equipped with stainless.

Now that I think of it, when I ordered my Warmoth neck, the cost of frets was included in the sale price. Unless I wanted stainless which would be $20 more. I think I'm remembering that right. I didn't have a lot of $$ so I wouldn't have paid more than $35 more for the stainless frets.

Seemed worth it to me and it was.

Stainless frets are killer. If I had the means, I'd get them put on all of my guitars without any hesitation.

Romania ...that's a country ...in Europe :))
I asked here on forum 3 months after buying the guitar why MM does not have SS frets. after only 3 months of playing at home around 1,5-2 hours/day, I saw fret ware that was for sure not normal after only 3 month.
CS told me it is normal, I asked on forum why not SS from the beginning, not received a clear answer from BP
As I see, as in other aspects EB position as I understand is something like: this guitars are made with the request of the players (JP, Luke, Morse, etc) , we have the best materials, etc

so as I see it , we may think of better solutions, from some parts, as SS, which many tested it on MM guitars and loved it, but EB will do what they want, because is their company:)

definitely when you pay this much on a guitar you would expects to last...and this frets , at least what I have on my JP, will not :(
