I love it. It was my favorite finish for the Bongo until Sterling Silver came out. Now I think it looks at least as good, if not better, on the Ray. Totally menacing & badass. And that finish feels so good on the neck, can't wait to check it out on a Ray. I plan to replace my OFM SR4 with one as soon as I can. And I've already got it named ... Gurthang, the Black Thorn.
I think it's neat, but I am not sure I like it either. Even on a black bass with a matching headstock, you have the outline of the pickguard and the silver adding some contrast, which I do like.
Although I agree with whoever said that the stealth really screams ebony. I mean if it has to be rosewood they could at least try to find the darkest rosewood possible, and I have seen some very dark ones in my time. But as it is the rosewood really stick out like a sore thumb, and I know a song about sore thumbs. lol
