Steely Dan guitar tribute on the way
Saw this on the Steve Morse site, and in this Mike Varney profile piece on studioexpresso.com. Jeff Richman is producing another tribute album for the Tone Center label. This time it's a Steely Dan tribute including Steve Morse, Mike Stern, Robben Ford, Al DiMeola, Steve Lukather, Jimmy Herring, Jay Graydon, Elliot Randall, and others. I love Steely Dan. This should be awesome!
Wow, sounds rad!

Didn't most of these guys already play on the original Steely Dan albums

Actually, this is something I would definately pick up, always been a Steely Dan fan  And Luke does a great Bodhisattva on the Toto 25th anniversary album.

i think Elliot Randall did the solo on Reeling in the Years. I don't think any of the other guys played on any SD records.

Yea Eliot Randall played on the first album. I was just making oblique reference to their liberal use of studio musicians, particularly after Pretzel Logic when it was all studio musicians (I think I need access to more sarcastic smiley thingies).

And Larry Carlton was THE MAN during those mid 70's sessions:cool:

Steely Dan has some incredible guitar tones and sweet bluesy/jazz licks on record... Robben Ford is gonna fit in perfectly :)
One of their newest albums, Everything Must Go, is very enjoyable..
