I also think it's a good idea to go for a different number of strings if a wanted color is not available for any instruments. It makes for a much more unpredictable, yet satisfying and thus fun, shopping experience. It's even more fun if you add some more otherwise unrelated connections, e.g. since EB flatwounds are chrome plated, the Stealth Bongo hardware is black, and the 2008 LE StingRay will not be available with mahogany body, you must buy a Silo bass. And while doing so, attach the Bongo to the infinite improbability drive.

But just so you know, the colour isn't the most important thing wen i choose a bass... ;) Just think the Blue Dawn looks awesome...
