it will be like when you can walk into a GC and pluck one off the wall and plug in! I had that thought today as I went to a local GC to buy a 3-way guitar stand - because I've been taking at least 3 Balls to gigs lately. I glanced at the EB/MM's on the wall - the usual SR4's, SR5's, and Sterling 4's and I'm thinking it will be nice when they are stocking Sterling 5's. I'll admit, I don't usually buy basses at GC because they are so "used" - but, occaisionally, you'll pick up a bass that was just put on the wall and not demoed to death. And what if it happens to be a nice new Sterling 5 in a color and pup config you like? GAS up! I have two other dealers in my area that stock EB/MM and they aren't stocking Sterling 5's yet. Looks like Bass Central has all of them!

You're in So Cal too - was it at the Bass Exchange? They have one now - saw it on their website. Are you thinking about buying one now?

Not Bass Exchange, though I'm going there sometime soon. It's a store in Montrose called Grayson's Tune Town. If it had a matching headstock I would've gotten in trouble and taken it home! It was sweet though, tobacco burst I think.

I'd loooove to buy one now. I wish I could. I just bought a whole new amp setup. Next year will be the earliest I think. The torture!!!

I forgot about Grayson's - I know the store - used to shop there when I lived in Montrose - back in 1986! It's a nice little family store - Ken Grayson is a good guy.

Ken is a great guy. If he carries a brand I'm looking for I'll buy it from him. I was truly ecstatic when he became an EBMM dealer last year. When I found out he became a dealer I ordered my Stingray 5 on the spot!

Have you been there lately? They've moved things around, it looks nice.

Yeah - stopped in a month ago or so and it looks nice. I bought my first 5 string bass from Ken - a '86 Guild Pilot - it was a cool bass. Back then, there weren't many options for 5's - the small-necked Ibanez or the huge-bodied Yamaha BB5000. The Pilot was a small J style body and the neck was pretty nice.

The best 5 out there now is the Sterling!
