I know that there are a lot of threads that talk about how to set up a bass but i just have a few questions. (maybe dumb ones but oh well I have no pride) Does raising and lowering the saddles affect the intonation at all or just moving them back and forth? also when i was adjusting the the neck it would only turn less than a 1/4 turn to the right with out getting stiff and of course I didn't want to turn it anymore is that all she has or is someting wrong?

For the first part of your question, yes, raising or lowering your saddles will change your intonation. At least, it did for me.

It sounds like you were trying to tighten your trussrod. Did you loosen your strings? Did you bend your neck back a bit while you tried to tighten your trussrod? You need to do everything possible to lower neck tension when you're trying to tighten your trussrod.

With all that said, it feels like the trussrod on my Bongo is as tight as it will go without snapping and I'm kinda worried about it myself.
