Hi all,
I was wondering if there are any EBMM Sterling AX4 SUB Series owners that would be willing to help me.
There is no information on these on the ernie ball website, and the only place i can usally find info about them is guitar center.

So... does anyone know what pickups are in that guitar, and how close it would get me to the tone on Van Halens f.u.c.k. and Balance albums?

Thanks so much!

Hi there Masong!
If they are "stock" pickups, they are our SBMM design zebra humbuckers that we based around the Music Man proprietary DiMarzio "AXIS" pickups. To my ears they sound quite good, and were approved by the EBMM Engineering Team almost 10 years ago when we rolled out our AX20, AX30, and AX40 Axis models.
They should get you close to that tone, just as the real deal DiMarzio "AXIS" pickups will, but, you need to keep in mind that not only is "Tone" subjective, it also resides in the hands of the player. You can buy all the EVH gear in the world to get you "close" to that sound, but, there is something inherent in the hands of a player that create that "Tone".
That said, the AX4 is a fantastic guitar for the price!
The AX4 is now discontinued, and the reason you will only find information about it is because it was an exclusive to Guitar Center/Musicians Friend in 2015.
If you've got any other questions, just ask :)

I have a SUB AX4, I swapped out my pups with a DiMarzio Air Norton in the neck & an Air Zone in the bridge. I think it sounds awesome!!

Just picked up an AX4 from another musician friend. The guitar needed some love but it still had most of the protective plastic on the back and even one pickup. It even still had the "Setup and shipped from Orange California" sticker on it. My question is what string gauge and type were these setup with from the factory.
Thanks
