I can't give a long review like I did for the Silo 20 vs the Silhouette vs the Sub 1, but that day, I did play a jp50 for maybe 10 minutes and an AX40 for maybe 2 minutes. I immediately disliked the AX40 and liked the playing of the JP50 but thought it did not have the "quality" look on the fretboard of an EBMM. As I always say.....find one to play if you can and try it out. I did think it played very well.

ive played afew, and while they are good (alot better than the olp's) they dont 'feel' right.. hard to describe... an EBMM jp6 feels perfect in my hands, but the SBMM jp50 really didnt feel that comfortable, pickups were ok, not great, but by no means were they bad, the finish was quite good (afew little things that were pretty ordinary, but overall was good), the neck feels nothing like the real deal, not sure how good the trem is as there was no trem arm installed at the time, but tuning seemed to be stable....
me personally id rather save up for a bit longer and buy the real deal. but hey you may like the SBMM jp50. so id recommend you try and find one and play it for yourself. its the only way you'll ever know. :)

For those who have tried the JP50, is the middle pickup position the two full humbuckers or the two humbuckers split?

Thanks,

you get all coils, but the 2 humbuckers are parallel mode when the switch is set to center. You get a little less output than 2 full humbuckers but a cleaner bigger single coily type tone. sounds killer on clean tones.

The humbuckers operate as normal (full output) when selected individually.

Thanks.

I was looking for the mid position to be that two pickup, strat quack tone.

LeonD

thats a great way to describe it. Its got that quacky in between strat tone, but with a lot more body behind the tone. the high end quackiness is sitting on top.

Thanks
Pat

not the 2 humbuckers.

if so then thats great! I was thinking of getting one and have it customized to that config if that is the case fabuloso!
i love that pickup combination for cleans..!

if i may suggest that those details should also be posted in the website :)

I'll order one now probably at the end of october,

You could always put in a PRS rotary style switch from stewmac (provided the pickups are 4 wire) to get different tones.
