Hi All,

I just purchased a SBMM Silo 30D in black. I made the purchase online and the guitar is currently being shipped to me.

I'm trying to verify that the guitar is a "Silo 30D" and not a "Silo 30" (the "D" on the end indicates the model that comes with DiMarzio PUPs). I believe the guitar is a 30D based on two things:
1.) The seller referred to the guitar as a "Silo 30" instead of a "Silo 30D," but put in the description of the ad that the guitar has stock DiMarzio PUPs. If this is the case, then the guitar is definitely a Silo 30D.
2.) I know for a fact that there were Silo 30D's made in this black color, but I don't know that there were any Silo 30's made in this color.

Can anyone confirm my assumption based on the pictures that this guitar is in fact a Silo 30D and not a Silo 30?

Also, for any of you that are experienced with Music Man serial numbers, the serial is SG23767. Can you determine the definite model and year of this guitar based off of this number?

I appreciate anyone's input/assistance with these questions.

Thanks!

No. Impossible to tell from those photos and even if the photos were better, you would still have to open it up to confirm. It's very easy to find listings for Silo30 in black, e.g. ...

Sterling by Music Man Silo30 Electric Guitar | Musician's Friend

This is a Sterling by Music Man guitar, not a Music Man guitar, so Music Man won't have any serial number info for it. You could contact SBMM directly and see if they can give you a shipping date. They may also be able to confirm what pickups it had.

Either way, you have a great guitar. And welcome to the forum!

You have a Silo30D. The way to tell is that the guitar does NOT have the locking tuners. I know this as I was an owner of a first run Silo30 and when they came out with the D model I never bought one because they didn't put the locking tuners on the D models. Brian from SBMM will likely pop in here and confirm what I'm saying.

Almost forgot - WELCOME to the family and enjoy your Silo30D!!!!! Those are really nice guitars for the $!

We did indeed make a Silo30-BK as well as a Silo30D-BK.

Only way to truly tell is to open up the pickguard and look under the pickups.

This is a set of the DiMarzio's that would be for a Silo30D

They will have the DiMarzio paper label on them, as well as the Humbucker being stamped in the baseplate.

Thanks for the confirmation, edhalen. That makes me happy, because I really want the DiMarzio PUPs. :)
