I just got home from a gig and all I can say is WOW! I used the 2nd and 4th on the pup select (I like the single sound) and used NO e.q. at all on the amp(Trace, older). And when I used the other selections.... nothing harsh. I kept everything flat on the bass (eq). I added a little bass on a song and it freaked everyone out (in a great way). Filled everything up. I'm sold! The cut and boost really works well!

I like the jazz sound, but I get that and a whole lot more. That 2nd pup really helps. One night of music doesn't tell me everything..... I'm actually looking forward to the next one. Even practice. This MOFO growls like no other! I also liked the buzz free sound. I'm gonna get me another!

Thanks Bovine!

I'm really loving the 2,3,4 positions on my HH Ray5. They each add another unique dimension to the tone, whether it be beef, growl, or throatiness. I also usually run mine flat, and my amp flat too! I might boost the bass, and roll off the mids/highs if i'm playing latin for a more organic, upright sound. You can find the perfect tone in 2seconds with these bases! Not like some G&L where I'll spend forever trying to find something useable...

#4 is where my Sterling HH stays 95% of the time. Awesome tone with noticeably more low end than a single H Sterling but never too boomy or muddy.

My HH SR5 quickly became my numero uno because of such tonal diversity. I do stay in position 1 most of the time but all the other positions get so much use. 2 for a funky slap tone. 3 for just a HUGE sound. 4 for some groovin' finger tone. 5 is all the P bass i'll ever need!!! :)

Is there ( I'm sure there are) secrect tones out there. Tell me about them if ya don't mind. It would help before the next gig. I have no practice amp at home! This bass will force me to buy one. My set-up is: Trace (older) eden xlt 410/15, and the same amp (only diffey) Trace 410/210. I have 2 of the same Trace heads.
