Help! Sterling HS Neck Pickup

First off, hey guys! First post! Ok, so on my Sterling HS, it always seems like the single coil in the neck is muted. When I switch from the bridge or the humbucker to it, it sounds exremely softer, to the point where I have to crank up my mids and treble. Any suggestions? Thanks!
 
i had a similar problem with a stingray. check the switch. spray with a contact cleaner.recommed deoxit. i sprayed the switch work it gently and it worked. if that don't work call customer service. by the way hows kim kardashian doing? (God i love her)!
 
I've had a similar problem where my single H would do exactly what you described but only when it was in parallel, and brought it back to the dealer. First they tried changing the switch without success. They then switched out all the electronics and it solved the problem.

You may have the same problem or you may not. Only a qualified technician can help you out by playing your bass. If you bought it new I'd suggest getting in touch with your dealer, if not customer service will take good care of you.
 
Before thinking this is a problem with the switch or wiring, you might want to just raise the neck pickup a bit. I thought mine was a little quiet when I got it so I raised it a bit - problem fixed. It can very well be a personal preference thing, as in your preference is different than the fine folks who set up your bass at the factory.

A big +1 on pickup adjustments. I am amazed at how much it can change the outputs and overall tone. Raising the neck pickup might not be the best thing, either - sometimes dropping the bridge pickup is the better choice. Listen through your amp and find the best tone while you're working with the screwdriver.
