Hi
I refurbed a battle scarred JP6 which had a piezo and got to know the piezo set very well.

For details on the refurb go here and here

The trem block is machined to take the PCB from the Piezo saddles, you would also have to rout a cavity for the piezo preamp
- I think it would not be cost effective.

Beej has retro fitted one to a Morse and could tell ya more

Let us know how ya get on?

Wow, that's an impressive Referb!!! How long did it take you???
The Piezo idea i had a feeling would be a rather hard job to do to one, i was thinking about modding the JP50 with a Graphtech Ghost Piezo and fitting the Air Norton and D sonic i already have in one of my other guitars, Routing's not to much of a problem as i am at college in the UK as a training Luthier so got access to all the tools and help thankfully!
its the old story, desperately want a JP5 or BFR JP just funds don't allow it in the near future!(

Do you happen to know if the Mystic dream paint is the same as they put on TVR cars??? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/TVR_Tuscan_01.jpg

by the way, the EB Forums are such a friendly community!

It didn't take too long really - had to get the parts like the new set of Piezo saddles and then had to get a new piezo switch. The neck had some tlc whilst I was waiting , and then had a play about with the paintwork. It was a good guitar to do such a project on - it needed some work bit now plays really nice, my son keeps nicking it off me instaed of playing my Les Paul so it must be ok.

My mate is a guitar builder with 30 years of experience so I knew that I could always get help if I totally ballsed it up (no pun intended).

The forum is well run and when you hang about here a while you get to know some great people - so stick about.

Oooo What piezo Saddles did you use for yours??? Nearest i could find was the Graphtechs!
Yeah the paint is horrifically expensive but if you can get sourced paint via a pro finishing shop you can get it done quite cheaply!
hehe not surprised your kid keeps pinching it, there amazing guitars! Remember the first time i played one i was drooling for about a week afterwards! (Am a huge Dream Theater Fan so would prob be reason):D

I used original Ernie Ball replacement saddles after confirming what I needed with Beth in EB Customer Service.

i'm gonna hang fire on refinishing it - I took it to a gig a few weeks ago and wasn't panicking over it getting dinged. Gotta say that I love the JP neck which is so different to the AL/EVH necks that I also like.

Hey- late to the game here. I've installed the Graph Tech system in my Morse. Had to replace the whole bridge, though (T-matic style). But I can shed some light on wiring, etc. if you have any questions about the process.
