Hi all,

Sooo, ran into a bit of an issue:
Just got this bass and I did notice from the start that the string tree/button was not sitting flush against the headstock with a gap of about a quarter of an inch off the face of the headstock.

I went to change strings today on it today and when trying to get the loose & spinning string tree/button lined up correctly for the proper string, it came off... with the tip of the screw still stuck in the headstock..... this happen to anyone before? I've sent an email in to info@sterling and as it was purchased through Long & McQuade I'm not worried about it not getting addressed just wondering if it's been a production issue before.

I have the same bass & love it! However, I've owned a number of SBMM instruments over the years, and the QC is hit & miss.
SBMM's customer service has always been very good in the past. Keep trying to contact them and they might send you a replacement neck, or the other option would be to find someone who knows what they are doing (or you if you are confident) and drill a new screw hole and use a quality new screw and re install the tree.
The roasted maple is VERY hard and somewhat brittle. You will have a very tough time getting the tiny broken screw tip out without just doing more damage... (don't ask me how I know this... ;)

Thx! Yep, did a pilot hole just north of the broken screw and reinstalled the button. Same as good now ;)

Annnnnd, SBMM help desk were awesome (like I anticipated anything different) and there may or may not be a "sorry for the inconvenience" mystery swag pack on its way. Too cool.
