sterling problem

hey i need some help um my sterling is sounding really muffled and like crap and it gets worse when i turn up the bass on the preamp on my sterling or on my amp oh i my amp is a ampeg ba-115 with the tweeter cut off i dont know if its my amp or my sterling but can anyone help with this iv already tryed replaceing the battery and changing the strings

sounds to me that your battery may be dying.

if thats not it you may clipping the preamp in you ampeg. If you have seperate gain and master volume knobs, try turning the gain down and the master volume up.
