I'm considering purchasing a Sterling Ray34. I've borrowed an EBMM SUB a while ago and found the neck to be too chunky for my hands, as a Jazz Bass aficionado. Does anyone have experience with both basses, and can tell me something about the difference between the two? I know the Ray24CA has a 38 mm neck, but they're not easy to find in olympic white here in the Netherlands, and there is a lovely Ray34 available in blue sparkle...

Chunky and Nut Width are different things; My guess is Ray34 is less 'Chunky' than EBMM Sub which has original Musicman Neck but with 43mm nut width[which I prefer]

i cannot speak for the EBMM, however I have the Sterling Ray34, and it is a joy to play, and sounds great! I highly recommend it. I suggest going to a local Music store which carries Music Man or has a wide selection of used instruments, and trying them out yourself
