I tried searching what the differences are between these 2 models but can't find any info on this forum or web. From what I gathered, silo 30 (not 30d with Dimarzios) has locking tuners, basswood body, "Sterling"bridge, and non-asymmetrical neck. The SUB silo 3 has hardwood body (Indonesian type basswood), asymmetrical neck, cheaper hardwares than silo 30 (I assume). Anyone with experiences with these 2 guitars kindly share your input? I guess quality wise does silo 30 justify for the $100-200 price difference?? Thanks.

Just to add to OP...if there's a choice to purchase a used Silo 30 vs a new Silo 3, which one would you buy?

They're different animals, really.

Silo30 hasn't been made since 2013, when we replaced it with the Silo30D DiMarzio loaded model (only in black)

Silo3 is a great guitar "on a budget". It's body is made of Jabon, which is an Indonesian hardwood similar to Basswood. All of the hardware and electronics are generic (which allows us to be able to hit the $199 USA Street price point).

Silo3 is available in Black and Tobaccoburst. Metallic Red and White have been *retired* for now.

Thanks for the respond. I wish the Silo30D came in a rosewood fretboard and a different body color than black; I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

If you replace the pickups on the old Silo 30s (the non 30D)s they are great guitars for the price. The first round models even had locking tuners.

I have a Silo30 and I've played a sub silo 3. There's a huge difference in the "feel" of the guitars. The Silo30 is a really nice ax and I'm using as a backup. the Sub Silo 3 felt a little cheap to me but that's what you'll get on a $200 brand new guitar. I would go with the Silo30(d) if it were up to me.
