Hi guys, I wonder..., well just one technical question:

stdiag1.jpg

This is official switch diagram for Sterling HS models (4 & 5), and there is one position that I would like to personalize to myself, after warranty is gone of course, 'cause it's not useful to me much!

It's marked with red, I'm talking about position that switch coils 2+3.

Instead that, I wonder is it possible to rewire that position into a coils 1+3, or maybe even 1 & 3 (parallel mode)

I mean, I could do that by myself, but first would like to hear some advice from an EB experts!

So I'm thinking someone has already done all that analysis and evaluation for us...

Yeah, right!
But people are impossible, I mean it will always be some freaks like me :D who want some extra options, tuning ...etc.

I think that's why EBMM company made 25th models, there are really all combination of switching that could be possible, especially on the HSS model! :p

I won't touch anything until warranty is active, that's for sure, but who knows, when warranty expires maybe I'll try some combination of rewire!

P.S. ...I just must add, that I'm an educated person for electronics and acoustics, so it's piece of cake for me! ;)
It just depends if factory has made some protections against tuning freaks like me! (for example, if switch contacts are drowned in plastic or something  )
In that case I won't touch anything of course!

I think this is a good thread for my question, since the diagramm is already posted.
Please help me to understand the middle position (1+3&2).

Is that
1+(3&2) or rather
(1+3)&2
Thanks

This is a VERY old thread. Keko sold his 5 HS a long time ago for his Reflex HH5. Personally on stage where I'm changing tone on the fly with no gaps between songs... its a Sterling for me. Sure the Reflex has more tones overall but the Sterling can cover a serious amount of ground too.

Pickup switch rocks! Looking forward to an answer here

+ = serial

& = parallel

number = pickup coil counted from bridge to neck

Hi Keko, and thanks. But I rather intended to ask:

Is it 1 in series with 3 and 2 whereas 3 and 2 are in parallel
OR
Is it 1 in series with 3 and both (1 and 3) are in parallel with 2?

Kinda nerdy question, I know. But I am curious.

Regards

Well, ...that's a really good question, ...I believe only EB Customer Service knows the right answer, try to e-mail them, they are very cooperative, especially A.J., who's also the forum member here!

I believe it might be 1+3 (in series) in parallel (&) with 2+ phantom coil (in series), but not 100% sure?

If You know what I mean?
