Although I´m a real Morse fan I did not notice that #1 has a black tailpiece until now! Strange isn´t it ?...

because ebmm doesn't make them powdered black .(anymore)
not since the very first run in 1987........& even then there were only a few that had black tails.

well - that one in my link at MF has a black tail and it looks like all black hardware. Maybe it's not powder coated, but a person could get that done at lotsa places, just have to pay for it. We have a shop here that will powder coat just about anything. Steve may have wanted it powdercoated to resist rusting. Who knows.

I would love to get my hands on one of those first 50...They are just put on sale when i don't have the funds. By the way the black tail piece looks sweet on that Morse.

When you enlarge that and the next pic, it looks like a reflection of the light rather than black?
