does anybody know how difficult is to change the Steve Morse Pickguard? i've seen this site Pickguard Heaven, and they have some very interesting pickguard colors and materials for the steve morse guitar. i know the guitar must have many cables under that pickguard just because of the amount of pickups and switches it has. has anyone done this? what should i consider before doing this??

I don´t see that many difficulties. The wires are not attached to the pickguard, they are soldered to the pots and switches. You will have to mount the 4 picckups, 2 pots, 2 switches and 1 lever. Ok it´s more than strat or so, but not more difficult

I wired a new pickgurad for my Morse a few years ago.

My recommendation would be to keep the original pickguard and all the electronics on it intact and build a second one. This is important if you wish to resell, revert to stock, or if something goes wrong with your experimentation. Particularly so with the Morse because its electronics are not "typical".

If you call EBMM, you can obtain all the part numbers for the pots, switches, and Molex connectors and either order them through EBMM or your local dealer. Then you can use the original as a guide for how to hook it all up. That's what I did and it turned out well.

That's my advice, for what it's worth.

some of the earlier standard models had fewer screws holding the pickguard down, along w/ slightly different locations of the screws. but they have always been the same size and can be used . depending on how old yours is, you may need to add a hole or 2. no big deal really.
