Deep purples Concerto is great - I saw them on their concerto tour 2000. That was the concert after which I was a very big Steve Morse fan till today! (saw him twice before with DP but was not really convinced because of being a Ritchie-Fan at that time...)

Oh, this DVD is just magic. Saw them on that tour in Dortmund as well. One thing I remember very clear - it was the best DP live sound I've ever heard.

I went to this gig at tThe Royal Albert Hall....great night. Steve's tone was awesome and cut through so well and the 'feel good' factor transcended from the stage through the audience.....

One of those great nights....

....however seeing Ronnie James Dio stand next to Ian Gillan was highly amusing.....

Frankly, I still miss Blackmore in Purple... as much as I love Morse, the man in black is really one of my soft spots.

There is no losers here as Steve is a beast on the guitar. But without Ritchie there would not be a lot of today's players. I really feel Blackmore does not get the respect he deserves. Everyone always talks about the big three Clapton,Beck and Page when I think it should be the big four.

How many players back then were playing diatonic scales and arpeggios in there solos like Blackmore and a few years later Brian May. Yngwie even though he hates to admit was so influenced by Blackmore from the leather pants and Strat right down to the poses. But he still has to be arrogant by telling it that he could play everything Ritchie recorded by 10 years old. I hate to say it but maybe he could.lol

Agree on Ritchie being up there with Beck, Clapton and Page. It's funny, since in Russia (or former USSR) the ranking has always been Blackmore and then the rest. Russians' love for Deep Purple was and is huge.

I bet Yngwie could play everything by David Gilmour by the age of 7. Technically. As a 47-year old now he should finally try to grow up and understand that what he means by "being able to play" is not what it's about.

You could make me a very happy man! So far, the best bootleg (VHS) I have is the one from 1996 in Kiew, Ukraine. The concert Steve so often jokes about being extremely cold in the midsummer, having no techs with them and not feeling his fingers fo the first 4-5 songs. It's one of my most favourite concerts of them ever.
