BP follow up

I'm bumping this thread in the hope that Big Poppa will find a little time to post his follow up, after testing his Morse tweaks at the wedding this weekend. ;)

My guess was a Morse with a maple fingerboard.
I have one other guess as well..

A baritone Morse guitar!

i'm guessing rounder low profile binding.....pickguard options (w/or w/o)......4th pickup option w/ flattened pole stagger for more picking room......and wiring options .
:D

I ordered mine tonight. Purple Sunset, upgraded quilt top, hardtail.

I'm guessing that any mods that are being discussed/made will be incorporated into any guitars ordered already? Will these mods slow down the production and delivery or are we still looking at the typical 3-4 month wait?

Another anxious owner to be... along with NorM.

The Musician's Friend database says they're expecting the new Morse's on March 25th...

I wonder if that date will slip, or if SLO will stay open this friday to meet the crunch! ;)

March 25th seems like a bad bet. I think I remember hearing that once they start building a guitar, it takes like 3 weeks to go thru the process.

If they are still refining the new morse, we're gonna have to give 'em a little more time.

I came thisclose to playing one at ebhq back in Feb. But when we went looking for it, it was already packed up for a show.

Thisclose.

I ordered the EBMM SMY2d at the beginning of February. Last thing I heard about it from the EBMM factory (last Friday) is that they are not yet producing this model because they're waiting for parts from their suppliers and Steve is still implementing some modifications. I was told they would start shipping the instruments at the beginning of July. Maybe you guys in the USA will get your hands on it sooner, but it will be worth the wait, I'm sure of that.

Cheers, T.

Answers to the New Steve Morse guitar

Some dealers have placed orders for these guitars. We have accepted these orders but have been very clear that we showed prototypes at the NAMM show and that we can't give an accuarate delivery or promise that there won't be changes in the final production model until we finish with the guitar and Steve is 1,000 percent happy.

If Musicians Friend is quoting March 25 delivery we will correct them.

We use the NAMM show as an opportunity to gauge interest, garner input, and to show a little bit of the future. I wish that more companies would treat it like the auto show where companies showcase existing products but also forward thinking concepts.

Any of the new Morse guitars will be built to the final specs that Steve wants. Our signature guitars are exactly like the ones the artist plays. We don't put a decal on a
model thats close and then custom make his. Luke never brings a guitar to biff baby's gigs off the rack is just fine.

I suppose Luke could always play one of mine, too. :p

But Steve seems to require the synth thing he has near the bridge for a lot of his music. Which is probably why I don't sound like him. :D

Or it could be he's good and I suck. :(

I wouldn't say they're "quoting" that date.. but if you follow the link for their Morse contest promo (which shows up on just about any page on the right hand side when you're actually looking at a product) and then click on the picture of Steve, you get to a page with a large photo of Steve playing, and beneath that a smaller pic of him holding a tobacco burst Y2D.

Next, click the link at the words "Ernie Ball Music Man Signature Guitar" and you are viewing the product details for the Y2D in their database.

Or just click here to go right to the page.

The "Availability" reads 3-25-2005.

Now, perhaps that is when they will start taking orders for this item, or maybe it is when they expect their next shipment, but it's there.

Also, any chance you can comment on the new Y2D tweak that you test drove over the weekend?

I really love playing my Blue Dawn Piezo Tremolo Silhouette in public. For me it is a can do anything guitar. Then the color is just ultimate. The Petrucci was fantastic in the shredfest competition. I found that going back and forth between the two guitars was difficult. Every time I picked up one I would find myself saying, Gee I liked the other one better. When I play my Morse at home I just can’t put it down. Like waking up on a Saturday morning, just 5 more minuets. The response from the pickups compared to the EMG’s is just delicious. Then this weekend I played all the guitars for 5 or 10 minuets apiece. The sound from the Axis was just incredible. That guitar does more than just look like the most beautiful guitar on the planet. Playing the Silo Bass Guitar makes me think I could really get use to this kind of fun.

So the new Y2D Morse is ordered. Steve is the reason I ever considered EBMM in the first place. It was the guitar I wanted in the first place after I saw Steve play at the first clinic I went to. Even though the specs for the guitar are not finalized yet I know that my decision on which guitar to play shouldn’t be to tuff. It will be the new Morse.

I am more excited about getting this guitar than any other guitar I have ever bought. :)
