Here here!!! I've played other EBMM instruments and some other brand basses and while they were all FANTASTIC instruments, the SR5 is just "the one" for me.
I just purchased 1991 SR5 in white last week at local music store and I am loving it too. It is my first 5 string bass and I realized that extra string is really helpful for what I play. The only draw back is it is heavy.
I have to be brutally honest here. I played an SR5 for about 5 years and loved it but one night at a gig, something went wrong - it was too loud on stage, I found myself playing harder, my rig was starting to distort so in a fit of craziness, i sold everything!
My SR5, GK800RB and Trace 15" cab all went.
Since that time, i always told myself that I would never buy another musicman.
I have gone through all the usual suspects and a few unusual ones to try and get the perfect bass with "my sound". You know, the one that is in your head that you try desperately to get. You sometimes get close but rarely do you get it.
I eventually found my perfect bass a few weeks ago after going through around 25+ basses.
It was - dum da da dum dum dum da - - - -
A Stingray 5 string.
My setup also includes a GK 700RB II and an Ashdown ABM15 so I have actually gone round in a circle to find out that the gear I originally had was my perfect setup. One good thing I suppose is that a lot of clever buys meant I never lost a penny during this time. plus I got to try a lot of cool basses ( 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 strings)
