Hi folks, I'm new here from Nova Scotia. I recently picked up a 77 Stingray 1 guitar in need of a new frets. I was wondering if anyone knows what fret size they origionaly put on these guitars. The Stingray 1 has the 10" radius. It looks similar to the attached photo (not my photo).

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

roughly 0.090 width x 0.040 height , similar to what Fender was using on their instrument during the period.

They went through a change in 1977, so I am not sure if yours is before or after. Initially they used "#3091 regular wire" across the board, but around the time they changed the rear carves, the Sting Ray I received "#2069 Wide" wire and the II received "#4175 tall" wire. These are old Jim Dunlop part numbers CLF Research (the factory that made these guitars) recorded in parts lists. I have no idea what they translate to today. Perhaps Jim Dunlop would know.
