It says Price £ASK so I did... but I ain't telling :D

p.s.: @sitonmybass: That Candy Red one right at the bottom, with maple board? Stick a white pickguard on that and... i'ts so me!! :D

Welcome back from holidays - hope you enjoyed.......and did you buy the CAR 2 band :D (HOW much did you say.......)

PS whilst you were away, and hidden deep in one of the threads - Big Poppa announced the coral red and mint green colour options were being discontinued on classics - just saying in case you hadn't picked this up cos I think you had thoughts of a coral red classic 5?

I think by now you all know the price... and the good thing is that "that" price is the same in every shop, unless the stores want to hurt themselves I don't think you'll find them cheaper anywhere else.

No I didn't get one of them, but I did try one and what can I say, definite point and click Stingray sound, propa big wolloping deep sound, the real deal!

To all those who say booo hooo 2 bands only! Believe me, those basses have "soul" regardless of the 2 band eq and can kick some serious jacksie.

ps.: Thanks for the news on the Coral Red and Mint Green. Noted ;)

Im mighty tempted...as noted above. After retesting some Rays, and a 2 band EQ again, I must admit I like both. If only they had a white one! Black is pretty cool I guess though.

Then I strongly suggest you flip the hesitation coin to avoid being disappointed, because they are only on a limited run here in UK, and I know you've been humming and arring about the lack of a hard case, well here is one you can stick the whole gigbag in it and be safe as houses. ;)

This is an SKB ATA Roto Electric Bass Case

Well I tested one of these out, the blue/maple, and it sounded fantastic. I can see why some people might favour the 2 band (VERY warm tone, in a good way).

Did Flea use a 2 band?

BTW - Im considering getting one tomorrow. Not sure which to get...thinking black but as Ive got a few maple basses I might get a rosewood board.

Opinions? Im not really into red basses really.

I have also ask for a quote on the 2 band/burst so SOMETHING will be getting purchased.

Yeah I think on the earlier stuff - he certainly used a 3 band SR with rosewood by the 90s. Tim Commerford used a 2 band with maple on the first RATM album - fantastic sound IMO

I'm glad to hear you're going to get one of these. Black with maple is a classic Ray combo - you can't really go wrong with that - maple will probably be slighter brighter sounding than rosewood - but a rosewood/black would look v cool. Have you tried a 2 band rosewood?

I'll be making a decision tomorrow I think! :)

As my incoming 3 band is maple I'm thinking rosewood. Pure old school warmth and roundness, with the 3eq doing the super aggressive maple modern sound with those more complex mids.

I've got a fair few maple basses so I'm trying to even it out a little :)
