Hi!

I just received my new 3EQ Ray and I've noticed something you guys might know how to sort out.

I'm pretty sure it's intonation is correct, but the g string seems to sit quite far in on the fretboard, and both the d n g are out of line a little on the pole pups.

My new 2 EQ and Ray 5 HS don't have this. It looks a little off when you view it straight on.

Help?

Its odd that my Ray 5 HS and Ray 2 Band have the A and D almost dead centre to the pole pups, thus the E and G and equally on the pole pieces.

Well not odd, they seem to be dead centre. Problem is im in UK, so its going to be either try and sort it or wait for another.

I tried pics but it wasnt showing it very well. Will try more, thanks.

Ok, so I checked lots of pictures, and it seems it varies from bass to bass. Im not sure if this one is a problem or not...

Anyway, on this picture it seems quite normal for the bottom two strings to not be in the centre of the pole pups.

Ill check it in the morning. Can I ask also, the E strings seems very 'easy' on the tuner to turn the tuner...the rest have normal resistance. Will turning the screw a little tighten that gear up?

Random pictures on the net aren't a good gauge of what you are trying to figure out. Camera angles can distort the details. Having said that, my SR4s string to pole relationships are the same as yours.

On 6 of my 'Rays (1981 - 2007) the strings are asymetrically off center of the pole pieces on the lighter side (g/d). The SR5 is the same. On the other 4 (1996 - 2008), the strings are more symmetrically off center of the pole pieces, i.e. e/a run also a bit inwards while d/g are less offset. The same for the Reflex.

Thanks guys. Been in touch with my dealer and they are picking it up and helping out.

My Ray 5 HS and Ray 4 2 band were awesome straight out of the box, so im going to try another White/Rosewood/White 3 band, and if its going to be a wait I might go for an upgrade for HS or HH matching headstock. Not sure yet.
