Hi there,

I am new to this forum and very happy to now own an EB MM Stingray 4 with the great HH configuration. Those are not very easy to get in Germany (btw I live south of Munich). Please have a look at this wonderful bass. I must admit my first choice would have been a Pacific Blue Burst w/ Maple Neck, but hey, this sound and feels so great! And the craftmanship is stunning!

However, I can not decide between the black pickguard and this custom made pearloid white one. You don't see a lot white pickguards on burst-finished basses with rosewood neck on the internet, however, the black one looks a little bit too old-fashioned for my taste. What do you think? I appreciate your input!

Servus/Cheers

Hi and thanks for the input. It looks like Black and Tort are the preference.
Browsing through google images I see a lot of MM basses/guitars with RW fretboard and dark pickguards, only a few with pearloid or pure white whilst it seems that this is very common on Fender instruments. Here you see a lot of Black/RW or Burst/RW basses with wihte pickguard. Why this? Any rule of the thumb that a MM maple neck should run into a light pickguard versus RW running into a dark one?
BTW I still tend to the white PG on Tobacco Burst ;)
