I just watched the DVD that comes in Champlin's new CD and they interview the band - George Hawkins (formerly with Kenny Loggins) is shown several times with a Stingray 5 - nice bass work on this record! George is a great player and I had lost track of him - didn't realize that he's been hooked up with Champlin for years. I had just seen Chicago live a few months ago and had no idea that Champlin was fixin' to quit the band and go solo again. Anyway, the new record is great - Luke's on a few tracks too! At the end of the DVD, George lists MM Basses - Attn: Artist Relations - add George Hawkins to the list on MM.com?

George has also done some great work with John Fogerty....I remember him picking up a Stingray a couple of years ago when he was touring with JF (who is also a MM guy).

What - no Bill Champlin fans out there? I know he's an old cat, but if you dig into his catalog - have a listen to his first record from 1978 called "Single" - it's basically Toto as the backup band (with David Hungate on bass). In fact, it's better than Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs, which was also the pre-Toto guys - and Silk Degrees was my all time favorite when I was a kid - learned all those bass lines and wore the record out. Single is at a higher level musically and some great bass lines by Hungate - it's worth checking out!
