I am still loving my Sterling 5, so much so that my good friend is looking at StingRay 5s. since I don't own a Sting Ray, and I am not a Fender player, I cannot help him much. He is wondering how the necks of these two basses compare, that is a Fender JazzV and a Stingray.

Any help here?

The Stingray 5 is narrower (1.75'') at the nut than the Fender Jazz 5 (1.875'').

They had changed the neck dimensions afair at the company with the "7" in their logo. I tried one of the first back in the 90ies and remember it flat and wide. A few years later they had a MiM Jazz in a local shop and it has been the same. Later I tried one of these U.S. made with 5-in-line tuners and bigger tuning pegs. The neck felt comfy.
Whenever I tried a EBMM SR5 I loved the neck and if I ever would play a fiver again it would be an EBMM.
