Hi!

I´m thinking about changing to flats. But before i do and go through all the work and setup that comes with it, does anyone have or know any recording of a stingray 5 with flats? Just want to hear what it sounds like.

Thanks!

Stingrays and Stingray 5's sound great with flats, but in my opinion, putting flats on a Stingray takes away what the Stingray does best, and thats '' growl '' , but what you loose in growl, you gain in SMOOTH bass tone.

Yeah I know the stingray is totaly awsome with regular slinkys but they´re killing my fingers every gig so I´m gonna try flats out for a while and see what happens.

Thanks!

Just do it. My SR5 and Bongo 5 are both strung with flats and will never see anything else.

There is nothing like gaining personal knowledge in these matters as some of us are like me. :D

see sig.

i don't think so.

here is a soundfile of some TI flats on my 30th stingray. they are pretty growly.
i also tried them on my 2band stngray. they sound there very nice too.

That's exactly my experience too.

I put TI flats on my 'ray, and as nice as they were, the Stingray punch and tone I love so much had been compromised. The flats were nice on my jazz, but it'll always be slinkys on my 'ray from now on.
