Question Stingray cases back in 1998?

I am looking at an SR5 '98, and the case doesn't look like the molded cases that come with EBMM's today. It looks more like the style case that come with the Limited Edition models with the different latches. Was this the norm back in 1998?

yes.. i don't think in 1998 they actually came with cases, it was an additional charge. But the hard cases were made by g and g and are similar to the current bfr cases.. My first SR5 from back then had to have a hardcase. I think it was an extra $100 at the time.. Now i'm a rigid gigbag guy.
