Stingray classic 5 with flats?

I've got an awesome classic Ray 5 in Lake Tahoe blue. I also have a Sterling 5H. Both are strung with regular Slinkys. I'm thinking of stringing the Ray with flats. I have a P bass strung with chromes, and I dig the tone. Do you think I can get a similar tone, and if so, what brands of flats have a decent B string?

EB Cobalts are quite wallet friendly, so
start there, and very likely finish there.

I have never tried the 5-string set, but
if I ever did buy another 5-stringer [not
very likely] my experience with 4-string
Cobalt flats would lead me to follow my
own advice as offered above.

IOW, I'd definitely risk the price of a set,
cuz if the 'B' is as great as the 4 others
then it's a dream outcome. And if the 'B'
were not what I'd hoped for, I still have
the 'EADG' set, that I already know and
love, for use on some needy 4-string

FWIW, they are on my fretted USA SUB.
USA SUBs, IMNSHO, are the progenitors
of the Classic series. But mine is crackle
finish black, so I am only guessing how
Cobalts will sound on Lake Tahoe Blue.

I would defo go for EB Cobalts! I have them on my Stingray 4, Bongo 5 and my G&L L-2000. They are probably the brightest Flatwound you can buy, and they sound great on any EB Basses.

I've had the Cobalt flats, they might be a tad too zingy.

I run my Classic 4 with flats although are a different brand I think it gives you that classic old school 70’s Stingray tone and an authoritative thump that is unmatched.
