Hey everyone, new to the forums and to the EBMM world. I tried a Stingray 5 HH today. While switching through the pickup selections, there was a very loud pop once I got to position 3 coming from the bridge pickup. In positions 4 and 5 on the neck pickup, the volume was significantly louder. I looked at the height of both pickups and they were the same. Is this just the nature of the HH setup? Thanks.

That depends on where you play on the strings. If you play near the neck humbucker, it will be louder and the same with the bridge humbucker if you play near the bridge.

In addition to that, I have discovered that my Bongo 4HH sounds quite much louder when I use both humbuckers. Guess it might be the same on the SR ;)

Welcome to the forums.
As already said,it all depends on your finger posistion as far as volume go's. If you play anywhere from the last frets on the neck to close to the bridge the volume and tone will change.Kick in the second humbucker, and well, you just doubled the output, so your going to notice a volume change.
And as Oli said, you should'nt hear a pop when switching, these are hot basses, try a
different cable.

I can't tell for sure for the SR5 HH, but on the SR4 HH there should be no pop, and there should be no drastic differences in volume. That's one of the reasons why I prefer the HH over the HS: The volume in all positions is quite constant.

Regarding the set up: The neck H should be further away from the strings than the bridge H.

Great, thanks for the info guys. There might just be a weird wiring thing going on with this particular bass. It was a significant "POP" when switching from the two outer single coils to both humbuckers together. Thanks for the tips though everyone. I'm really excited about getting either a stingray or a sterling.

I agree that something happened in the switch on that bass, I've had 3 SR5's
and all were very quite when switching. You can't go wrong with ether, EB/MM's have just incredible B strings, crazy bottom and clear as a bell.
I hope you get one soon. And of course no pics/no bass.
