So I've been having an issue with my Stingray HH where the I get buzzing and crackling whenever my cable around the jack is touched or moved around. Some people have told me to get one of those compressed air tanks and blow it into the jack to get rid of any dust. Is that a good idea or is there a different issue? Thanks.

I had the same issue with my side-jack SR. As it turned out, I was bumping the instrument cable with my leg when playing, which disrupted the jack inside the bass. I pulled apart the jack, carefully bent the contact pieces back into proper position, and, most importantly, replace my straight end cable with a right-angle ended cable. Problem solved.

Might also check to make sure the jack itself is tight. I've long been in the habit of undoing the retaining nut and putting a drop of blue LocTite on the threads to keep it from ever loosening.

Barrel jacks like those used on the Bongo often come loose over time. The plate type like the ones on the SRs, not so much.

Oh, and since SOMEBODY has to say it, Jack doesn't have a Stingray issue that we know of. He loves all EBMM basses.
