I restored my neck today, as instructed in this video

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24yWr2LRmJY]YouTube - Caring for your Music Man neck & Fretboard[/ame]

using exactly the same stuff this guy used.

Neck really shines, and the feeling "under my thumb" is a completely different experience now.

However, the bad news is...some of the lacquered finish peeled of, as it wasn't finished properly to begin with.

Esthetically, this does not bother me, but the rest of it is becoming pretty shaky, so the question is...how to glue the piece that fell out (kept it in one piece) and what to do with the hole near the input?

That doesn't look like it could be in any way related to cleaning the neck. Removing the tape after cleaning may have made it worse, but cleaning the neck as shown in the video, using the products in the video, would not have done that.

I never said it did...and me removing the tape DID that, as it was obviously starting to peel of by itself.
I'm not placing blame, just asking what to do with the piece that fell out, since, when it starts peeling of, it usually doesn't stop by itself...hence: "HELP:"

i'm very satisfied with what i've done to the neck itself, i'll continue doing it every 6 months or so...

just for the record, i skipped the 600 grit and moved straight to the 1000 grit.

Ok...probably just could've used some clarification.

Not sure how to fix that other than a refin as it's probably going to continue to be a problem.

Ok after looking at all of those pics, it doesn't look like it was a tape issue, it looks like theres an issue with your finish for it to be doing that all over your body. How old is your bass, and how ago did this start?

the bass is 2001, i bought it in august this year like that so...there is no way of telling.

I've noticed it but i didn't know it would come off with the masking tape...at least it was stuck to the tape

As BP always says, "Contact EBMM Customer Service."

will do, i was just looking for some home made wisdom..."use nail polish" or something like that, i suppose i'm not the only to deal with this.

i would just leave it like that for the "retro road worn" finish that kids are raving about nowadays

1. extra patient wife
2. super glue (gel)
3. me not getting in the way
4. some nail polish shine thingy...something

looks ok, feels ok, it seems it won't continue peeling...

i would too...but an inch to each side was getting shakey...the instrument should bare the marks.

the first thing i do when i get a new guitar or bass, i "ding" the headstock a little. It's bound to happen sooner or later, so i get it out of the way right away.
