I have not played a bongo -from all the that has been said -i gotta- that mentioned -it really seems to depend on the sound /tone you want -one thing no one mentioned -if you get your new ray -and you want more -try a good preamp-stand alone not the pre -amps they have in the amps -youll be amazed-that may enable you to taylor your punch /sound /tone i know how you feel unless you can -A/B the 2- together its a guessing game

I'm playing a h stingray 4 with a SWR goliath 3 (4x10) + Mesa Boogie Walkabout + Boss GT10-B and it sounds great for me and my friends.
I'm almost decided to go to stingray (sorry Bongo guys) because the ideal sound is very personal and I allready know the stingray. ;)
I know for shure that the SR is one of the best basses ever, and that EBMM will never go back in quality and sound.

i know there's gonna be some people catching feelings when i say this but what do you like looking at? to me the bongo styling is MUCH less desireable. sound is a huge deal but personally you gotta love ALL of its qualities. I say stick with the rays. the sound is iconic and they are a beautiful machine.
