Stingray Pickup update

I wrote a thread a while back and got mixed answers and now I want to see if opinions have changed.
I am have a 5 string mahogany bass made where the pickup will be near the bridge.
I am a HUGE fan of Stingrays and love the one I have. However, with this new strange design i'm getting made, I would like to get as close as I can to a Stingray tone (Louis Johnson). So far, companies like Bartolini, Nordstrand, Basslines-SD, etc have been mentioned. Would like to know what pickup should I get to achieve a bright and fat bottom Singray sound?
Lastly, the maker is pushing to use a Kent Armstrong soapbar or their MM pickup.
The bass will be entering the pickup routing stage soon, so PLEASE shoot me your recommendations ASAP!

I am very sorry, but it will not matter what pick up you put on that bass; it will never sound anything even remotely like a stingray. I suggest you go with the recommendation of the builder.

Wood is a funny thing. Even the same wood type will have a different tone. They will be very close...but ...different. The best one to ask this question would be the builder.

Seymour Duncan makes a MM replacement pickup that sounds pretty decent. Have you tried looking for an original MM pickup on the bay?

Okay, I deleted the dupe thread and am closing this one.

This is - again - the Ernie Ball forum, NOT the aftermarket pickup forum. There are good place to ask these questions (Talkbass comes to mind) but not here, please, as I have explained about a thousand times this WEEK.

Guys, do me a big favor and leave these alone if you can? I can't be on this 24-7.
