Can anyone tell me what year a Stingray with the serial # 25509 would be? It is an early EB model. It has a bridge with the old adjustable mutes but not string-thru. When did they stop using that bridge? Thanks!

Serial# 25503 is June 1987....that should give a pretty good indication of the date of your serial.

In 1980, MM introduced the top-loading bridges (ie non string through) but still retained the string mutes on these new bridges. Ernie Ball continued with the top loaded muted bridges after purchasing MM in 1984. The mutes disappeared, I believe, circa 1995 but the bridge still had the same dimensions. Four studs were added to the holes in the bridges which were previously used for the mute adjusters. The bridges became shorter soon after.

Cheers. :)

P.S. Some serials are not chronological. Also the data I have is only what others relate about their instruments.

Cheers.
