After being away from my Stingrays for a few months today was the first chance that i got to spend some some quality time with them, in my absence i was loaned a couple of nice basses one being a Bongo 5HH (thanks again Bert) so today with both my Rays was a happy reunion.
After first opening the case it was like seeing an old friend that you haven't seeing in ages, within minutes it was like id never been away ! ;)
So if you have a SR4 thats been taking a bit of a back seat lately, go give it a hug, it will remind you why you own in in the first place an why there so dam cool !!!
Peace!!!

No offense to the fans of EB's new generation of 18V basses (and even the newer 4.5V one!) but the Stingray IS an icon of modern music and undeniably a significant part of guitar history. A distinction which the latest models might never reach.

That is the coolest...

To me its essential to keep at least one Stingray 4 of some type in the stable, so I'm in agreement with the comments above.
The beauty is that there are some variations of a Ray that should be able keep everyone happy.
